Coach Pizzo's Report - October 23
The Polar Bears competed in three events this past weekend including the Central 6 at Boston College, the Fall Foliage Regatta at UNH, and the Oberg Trophy at MIT. The Polar Bears had two teams at the Central Series hosted by Boston College. Conditions were light all weekend but we were able to complete twelve races in each division. The team was focusing on starting and making the adjustments between the FJs and the Z 420s. The team finished fifth and ninth overall out of the sixteen teams competing. Ellis Price, Caitlin Tardio, Claire Havig, Nora Cullen, Rowan Byrne, Kevin Elk, Kelsey Slack, and Martie Ogle competed for the Polar Bears.
Three races were completed in each division at the one day Peak Foliage Regatta hosted by UNH. The Polar Bears handled the tricky winds on Mendums Pond, winning the event. Michael Kann and Eve Allen sailed A-division and Louis Frumer and Julia Adams sailed B division.
The Oberg Trophy hosted at MIT by Northeastern was an important event leading into the Schell Trophy this weekend. Ten races were completed in each division. The Polar Bears were consistent throughout the event, finishing fourth of the eighteen teams competing. Matt Kaplan and Emily Gonzalez sailed A-division, Harrison Hawk and Hannah Konkel sailed B-division, and Matt Safford, Christian Filter, and Louisa Lindgren sailed C division.
This upcoming weekend is the NEISA Fall Conference Championship Weekend with the Schell Trophy at MIT, the URN Trophy at Harvard, and the Nickerson Trophy at Tufts.
