Coach Pizzo's Report - April 17

The Polar Bears competed in three events this past weekend including the the Thompson Trophy at Coast Guard, the President's Trophy at BU, and the Owen Trophy at Yale.

Conditions were windy all weekend at BU.  The team had some good races and some tough races but were improving on the starting line.  Ellis Price and Eve Allen sailed A-division and Emily Gonzalez and Caitlin Tardio sailed B-division.  The team finished 11th overall.

The Thompson Trophy was the major interconference event for the weekend featuring many of the top teams in the country.  Conditions were terrific on Saturday with slightly lighter breeze on Sunday with courses that were slightly longer than normal.  The team improved throughout the weekend, and finished twelfth overall.  Jack McGuire and Hunter Moeller sailed A-division, Christian Filter and Louisa Lindgren sailed B-division and Mimi Paz and Nora Cullen sailed C-division.

Down at Yale, conditions were very light on Saturday with only four races completed in each division.  Sunday featured a warm sea breeze which allowed for excellent racing.  The Polar Bears finished third overall.  Matt Kaplan, Dana Bloch, Alex Vasiliou, Hannah Konkel, and Isabelle Austin-Green competed for the Polar Bears.

This upcoming weekend is the Jerry Reed Trophy for the Women's New England Champs and the Admiral's Cup at King Point.
