Coach Pizzo's Report - April 3

The Polar Bears competed in three events this weekend including the BU Trophy, the Lynne Marchiando Trophy, and the Great Herring Pond Team Race.  Racing was cancelled at the BU Trophy on Saturday because of cold temperatures and big breeze.  Conditions were much better on Sunday at BU and six races were completed in both divisions.  The Polar Bears improved throughout the day, finishing fifth of thirteen teams.  Mimi Paz and Nora Cullen sailed A division with Ellis Price and Emily Gonzalez sailing B-division.

The Great Herring Pond Team Race was hosted by Mass Maritime.  Three round robins were completed on Sunday with the Polar Bears finishing with an 8-4 record.  The team tied for second at the event. Michael Kann, Caitline Tardio, Christian Filter, Matt Safford, Marie Bergsund, and Hannah Konkel competed for the Polar Bears.

The Lynne Marchiando Team Race was the major team race interconference regatta for the weekend.  After a delayed start because of the snow on Saturday, the Polar Bears finished with a 5-2 record and qualified for the Gold Fleet.  Sunday featured many of the top NEISA teams and the racing was incredibly close.  The Polar Bears finished with a 7-7 record, finishing fourth overall out of sixteen teams. Matt Kaplan, Dana Bloch, Mimi Paz, Harrison Hawk, Louisa Lindgren, Jack McGuire, Hunter Moeller, Matt Lyons, and Chester Jacobs competed for the Polar Bears.
