Coach Pizzo's Report - April 14

The Polar Bears competed in two regattas this past weekend including the Truxton Umsted Regatta at Navy and the Women's Presidents Trophy at BU.  Conditions were light and lumpy at Navy on Saturday with each fleet only sailing six races.  The breeze significantly improved on Sunday with big breeze and waves.  The conditions were excellent in preparation for our New England Coed Champs at Yale in two weekends.  Sailing for the Polar Bears was Michael Croteau and Julia Rew in A Division, Kaylee Schwitzer, Pete Edmunds, and Paige Speight sailed B division while Matt Lyons and Jack McGuire sailed lasers in C and D division.  Lyons and McGuire particularly had a great weekend of sailing finishing fourth and third in their divisions.   The team finished 8th overall.

The Women's Team competed down at BU on the Charles River.  Conditions were typically light and shifty both days.  Erin Mullins and Mimi Paz sailed A division and Courtney Koos, Olivia Diserio, Lizzy Hamilton, and Dana Bloch split time in B division.  Despite the tricky conditions, the team sailed a very consistent event, finishing second overall.

This upcoming weekend, the Women's Team will compete at the Jerry Reed Trophy hosted by Coast Guard.  This event is the qualifier for Women's Nationals.  The Coed Team will compete at the Admirals Cup hosted by Kings Point.
