BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College sailors enjoyed a busy weekend of action around New England, hosting the Hewitt Trophy and competing in three other events around the region.
The University of Vermont claimed the Hewitt Trophy at Bethel Point in rainy, but breezy conditions. Jimmy Rohman, Madison Rex, Katie Doble and Kim Dempsey sailed the event, finishing sixth of 15. Thanks to alums Stu MacNeil, DJ Hatch, Jane Koopman and Tom Charpentier, who helped run the event with the current team members.
At Coast Guard, Pete Edmunds, Mae Speight, Jeff Goodrich and Clare Henry sailed the intensive intersectional Danmark Trophy–finishing 17th after edging out the host team by one point. Emily McNeil, Charlotte Williamson, Lizzy Hamilton and Isabel Low had the best finish of the weekend at the Charles River Invitational, finishing third of 15 teams. Kaylee Schwitzer, sailing New England Women's Singles this weekend in Radials, finished 14th at her event.
