BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin senior Ben Torda (Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y.) has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Men's Cross Country Performer of the Week.

Torda became the first Bowdoin individual to win the Maine State Championship since Coby Horowitz in 2013, covering the 8K Pickard Field course in a time of 25:25.3, winning by over 17 seconds. It was the second win of the season for Torda, who also claimed the season-opening Bowdoin Invitational on September 16.

The Polar Bears, who finished second at the State Meet, will return to action this weekend as they travel to Pineland Farms in New Gloucester for the 2017 NESCAC Championship meet.
