Horowitz and Skinner Prepare to Compete at NCAA Cross Country Championship

BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin cross country runners Coby Horowitz and Lucy Skinner will compete individually at the NCAA Division III Championship this Saturday at Hanover College in Indiana.

Horowitz and Skinner earned bids thanks to their showings last weekend at the New England Division III Championship at Southern Maine. Horowitz took fourth overall in the men's race while Skinner placed ninth in the women's race. The top-six individuals who are not part of qualifying teams earn bids to the Championship.

The women's race is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. (EST) while the men's race is slated for 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The NCAA will be providing a live webcast of the both races at the link above.

One of the most decorated athletes in Bowdoin history, Horowitz has been an All-American eight times in his career, including six consecutive season (indoor track, outdoor track and cross country) dating back to the fall of 2011. Last year, Horowitz posted the best-ever finish for a Polar Bear at the NCAA Cross Country Championship by taking a ninth-place showing. In his two most recent events, the senior placed third at the NESCAC Championship and fourth at the New England Regional in extremely competitive fields. Earlier this year, he competed at a pre-national race in Hanover, earning a second-place finish.

Lucy Skinner will be making her first appearance at nationals following a breakout sophomore campaign that saw her total three top-five finishes, including a win at the State Championship meet this fall. Skinner bounced back from a 23rd-place showing at the NESCAC Championship two weeks ago to claim ninth at the New England regional and claim a bid to NCAA's. She also competed on the Hanover course earlier this fall, taking 11th at a pre-national meet in October.

Complete results will be posted at NCAA.com following the competition.
