BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College men's and women's cross country teams have released their 2013 meet schedule.
The eight-meet schedule opens at the Southern Maine Invitational on September 21 before returning to Brunswick for the lone home competition of the fall - the Bowdoin Invitational - on September 28. The Polar Bears will take a rare out-of-region trip to Indiana for the Hanover College Invitational on October 5.
The championship season will commence on October 12 with the Open New England race at Franklin Park followed by the Maine State Meet at Colby (October 19), the NESCAC Championship at Connecticut College (November 2) and the New England Division III Championship at USM (November 16). Hanover College will also be the host for the NCAA Division III Championship on November 23.
The Bowdoin women finished seventh at the NESCAC Championship last fall and placed 11th at the New England Division III race. Reaha Goyetche, Maddie Lamo and Madelena Rizzo will captain the women's cross country squad this season.
The Polar Bear men raced to a third-place finish at the NESCAC Championship and took second overall at the New England regional, qualifying for the NCAA Championship where they placed 16th. Coby Horowitz, who became the first Polar Bear to win the NESCAC Championship since 2000 and also won the New England Division III regional, will captain the men's team with Sam Seekins, who earned a runner-up finish at the regional last fall.
