BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin junior Coby Horowitz (Stow, Mass.) has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Men's Cross Country Performer of the Week.
Horowitz grabbed sixth place at the New England Championship on Sunday at Stanley Park in Westfield, Mass. The junior was the top Division III finisher, covering the 8,000-meter course in 24:34.43. By doing so, he earned All-New England recognition and helped the Polar Bears secure sixth place out of 37 teams.
Horowitz's finish was the best by a Bowdoin student-athlete since Doug Ingersoll in 1981 and lifted the Polar Bears to their best finish in the event since the 1940's.
Bowdoin will compete at the Maine State Championship this coming Saturday at the University of Southern Maine.
