BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College men's cross country team is ranked 21st in the Preseason Poll released by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Wednesday.

Among New England programs, Bowdoin ranks sixth in the first USTFCCCA regional rankings of the year. The Polar Bears are coming off an end-of-year #15 ranking in 2011. Bowdoin took a second-place finish at the NESCAC Championship, a third-place showing at the New England Division III meet and 15th-place finish at the NCAA Championship last fall.

Under head coach Peter Slovenski, who is entering his 27th year at the helm of the program, Bowdoin will open its 2012 schedule on September 15 at the University of Southern Maine Invitational. The Polar Bears will host the NESCAC Championship meet on October 27 in their only home competition of the autumn.
