Horowitz Earns All-American Status at NCAA Indoor Track Championship

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Bowdoin's Coby Horowitz earned All-American honors by placing third in the mile run at the NCAA Division III Championships Saturday at North Central College.

Horowitz finished third in mile to lead the Polar Bear contingent. Erin Silva finished 12th in the pole vault and Sam Seekins took 13th in the 5000 meter run for Bowdoin. It is the second time this year that Horowitz had earned All-American status as the junior also took ninth in the NCAA Cross Country Championship last fall. He also earned All-American honors last year as a member of Bowdoin's national-champion distance medley relay team.

Horowitz recorded the top time in prelims and finished his race in a personal best time of 4:09.80, just two seconds back of the eventual winner, Dan Sullivan of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

Seekins ran 15:09.70 to take 13th in the 5000 meter run. Silva vaulted 3.60 meters in the pole vault to take 12th overall.
