Men's Track Snaps Bates Streak, Wins State Championship

LEWISTON, Maine -- Bowdoin College ended Bates College's string of seven straight state outdoor championships by winning the State of Maine Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday at the Russell Street Track at Bates.

The Polar Bears scored 230 points, outpacing the host Bobcats, who scored 206 points. The University of Southern Maine was third with 142 points and Colby was fourth with 36.

Bowdoin was the last team to win the meet other than Bates, in 2001. The Polar Bears received event wins from Riker Wikoff in the 400-meter hurdles, Thompson Ogilvie in the 800 meters, Chris Martin in the high jump and Nick Ianetta in the javelin throw.
