MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - Bowdoin's top doubles pairing of Grant Urken and Luke Tercek cruised to the championship at the ITA New England Regional this weekend at Middlebury College.
It is the second consecutive season a Bowdoin doubles team has won the regional crown as Jerry Jiang and Kyle Wolfe claimed the crown last fall. Urken and Tercek advance to play at the ITA Oracle Cup in Rome, Ga., beginning on October 11. More information will be available this week.
- Seeded third entering the championship, Tercek and Urken advanced to the quarterfinals with a pair of convincing wins. With back-to-back 8-6 wins in the quarterfinals and semifinals, the Polar Bears advanced to the finals against Farrell and Martin of Middlebury.
- In a best-of-three set finals, Tercek and Urken won in straight-sets, 6-4, 6-3, to claim the title.
- Tercek also enjoyed a fantastic run in the singles bracket, winning three matches to advance to the quarterfinals.
- The Polar Bears, as a team, are scheduled to return to action on October 13 at the MIT Invitational.
