Men's Tennis To Host NCAA Regional This Weekend (Updated)

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The NESCAC Champion Bowdoin men's tennis team will host a regional for the opening rounds of the NCAA Division III Championship this weekend at Pickard Courts.

Due to hosting a regional for both men's and women's tennis, the men's matches will be played on Thursday-Saturday while the women will play Friday-Sunday.

The defending national champs received a first-round bye and will begin defense of their title on Friday against the winner of Thursday's first-round match between Nichols and UMass Boston. MIT and Stevens also received first-round byes and will play on Friday in a second-round match. Friday's winners will play Saturday in the regional final.

Thursday, May 11

Nichols vs. UMass Boston - 1:00 p.m.

Friday, May 12
Bowdoin vs. Nichols/UMB winner - 8:00 a.m.
MIT vs. Stevens - 10:30 a.m.

Saturday, May 13
Regional Final - 9:00 a.m.


The team advancing out of this weekend's regional will move on to Chattanooga, Tenn., and The Champions Club Tennis Complex at Rivermont Park for this year's NCAA Division III Team Championship, May 22-24.

The Polar Bears (18-4) have been ranked near the top of the ITA Division III poll all season and claimed their first NESCAC Championship since 2008 with a 5-4 victory against Middlebury on Sunday.
