FORT MYERS, Fla. - Bowdoin sophomore Luke Trinka earned a sixth-place finish this weekend at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Small College Championships.
Trinka, who entered the tournament unseeded after winning
the ITA Northeast regional last month, took the first set, 6-4,
against second-seeded Oliver Loutsenko of Skidmore. However,
Loutsenko came back to win the next two sets, 6-1, 6-0, to send
Trinka into the consolation round. Trinka bounced back with a 6-2,
6-1 victory over UW-Whitewater's Jake Humphreys to earn a spot in
the consolation championship, where he fell to Paxton Deuel of
Trinity (Texas) in three sets.
Trinka was the first Polar Bear to ever win the Men's ITA Northeast regional.
