Men's Tennis Announces Fall Tournament Schedule
BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College men's tennis team has announced a three-tournament schedule for the 2009 fall season which begins on September 19. The Polar Bears are coming off one of the most successful seasons in program history, reaching the regional final of the NCAA Tournament and seeing their top doubles pairing of Jamie Neely and Oscar Pena reach the NCAA Championship match.

Pena and Neely Fall in NCAA Championship Match
CLAREMONT, Calif. - The phenomenal run of Bowdoin's Jamie Neely and Oscar Pena came to an end in the title match of the Division III Men's Tennis Doubles Championship on Sunday, as the Polar Bear duo fell to Ben Stein and Amrit Ruspasinghe of Bates College (6-4, 5-7, 6-4). Neely and Pena are the first Bowdoin tennis players to reach a national championship match and finish their season with a record of 13-2.

Jamie Neely Receives ITA Northeast Arthur Ashe Award
BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin College men's tennis player Jamie Neely (Quincy, Mass.) has been honored as the Northeast Regional recipient of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Division III Arthur Ashe Sportsmanship Award. The first Bowdoin men's tennis player to be nominated for the prestigious award, Neely was Academic All-NESCAC and First Team All-Conference this spring.

Bowdoin Sweeps Vassar in NCAA Opener
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - The Bowdoin College men's tennis team eased past Vassar, 5-0, in an NCAA Tournament Second Round match on Saturday at Williams College. The Polar Bears (12-6) advance to play the host Ephs at 3:00 p.m. Saturday in the regional finals. The teams played a hotly-contested regular season match on April 18 with Williams taking a 6-3 win.

BRUNSWICK, Maine - Three members of the Bowdoin College men's tennis team have been honored as All-New England Small College Athletic Conference selections and grabbed NCAA bids on Friday. Sophomore Stephen Sullivan (Coral Gables, Fla.) was tabbed as a First Team singles selection while the doubles pairing of junior Jamie Neely (Quincy, Mass.) and first-year Oscar Pena (Miami, Fla.) have netted First Team doubles choices.

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - The Middlebury College men's tennis team defeated Bowdoin 5-1 in the semifinals of the NESCAC Tournament on Saturday. The Polar Bears (11-6), who entered the tourney as the fourth seed, will hope to receive an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament when pairings are announced early next week. Oscar Pena teamed with Jamie Neely to earn Bowdoin's lone point in doubles play.

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - The Bowdoin College men's tennis team took a 3-0 advantage in doubles play and claimed a pair of singles wins to take a 5-3 victory over Trinity in the opening round of the NESCAC Tournament on Friday at Williams. The reigning NESCAC Champions will play top-seeded Middlebury in a rematch of last year's final on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. in the semifinals. POMONA, Calif. - Down 3-0 after singles play, the Bowdoin College men's tennis team rallied to take a 5-4 win over the University of Texas-Tyler in their spring opener on Monday. The Polar Bears are ranked 11th in the nation entering this week, while Texas-Tyler stood 20th overall in Division III. After struggling in doubles play, Bowdoin left little doubt in the singles matches, winning a quintet of contests in impressive fashion.
