Bowdoin Squash Teams Both Mount Dramatic Combacks to Beat Wesleyan

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - The Bowdoin College squash teams both rallied in similar fashion to take thrilling 5-4 wins over Wesleyan on Friday evening.

The 20th-ranked Bowdoin women move to 2-6 after their upset of 17th-ranked Wesleyan. The 20th-ranked Polar Bear men improve to 3-4 with the win over the 24th-ranked Cardinals.

Down 4-2 against the Cardinals, the Bowdoin women began their rally with a 3-0 win by Torey Lee at #1, followed by a hard-fought 3-2 victory courtesy of Alden Drake at #3 to tie the overall match at 4-4. Sarah Wlodarczyk clinched the victory for the Polar Bears at #7 with a 3-1 victory. Monica Wlodarczyk at #5 and Michaela Martin at #4 accounted for the other Bowdoin points in the victory.

The men were in even worse shape after five completed matches, trailing 4-1 after a Matt Cooper victory. William Fantini started the comeback with a 3-0 win at #3 to close the gap to 4-2 with three matches remaining on the court. Bowdoin swept the final three matches, with Andrew Hilboldt, Reid Wilson and Andrew Ward all collecting points. Hilboldt took a 3-1 win at #1, Wilson earned a 3-2 win at #5 and Ward cliched the match with a 3-1 victory at #7.

Both teams will play four matches over the next two days at Yale.
