Peter Mills, a 2009 Bowdoin College graduate and Brunswick native, joined the Polar Bear coaching staff in the summer of 2010. A four year contributor at Bowdoin from 2005-08, Mills helped the Polar Bears to an impressive 36-21-3 record over his career. In his first year as an assistant, the Polar Bears reached the 2010 NCAA Final Four, posting a program best 15-2-4 record, and finishing ranked #3 in the country. Mills has since helped the team to back-to-back NESCAC titles and NCAA appearances in 2014 and 2015. Mills has also coached a variety of teams within Seacoast United Soccer Club, helping teams reach the Regional Championships in 2012, 2013, and 2014. Mills also coached the club’s National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) team for two seasons, a team that competes in the 4th division in US Soccer.
Prior to returning to Bowdoin as an assistant, Coach Mills worked with Portland High School boys’ soccer and taught at Memorial Middle School in South Portland. Mills graduated from Bowdoin with a degree in History and a minor in Education. He has earned his United Soccer Coaches (formerly NSCAA) National Diploma, Advanced National Diploma and is a current candidate to earn his Premier Diploma this year.
