Men's Soccer Team Announces 2009 Schedule
BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College men's soccer team has released their 14-match regular-season game schedule for 2009. Fran O'Leary's squad, who boasted a 4-2-0 mark at home last season, will play eight contests at Pickard Field this coming year.

NESCAC Announces Fall All-Academic Team Honorees
BRUNSWICK, Maine - Thirty-nine Bowdoin student-athletes have been awarded NESCAC All-Academic recognition in honors announced this week. To be honored, a student-athlete must have reached junior academic standing and be a varsity letter winner with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.35.

NESCAC Names Fall All-Sportsmanship Team
BRUNSWICK, Maine - Eight Bowdoin College student-athletes have been recognized as NESCAC All-Sportsmanship Team honorees announced on Thursday. The All-Sportsmanship Team is composed of one student-athlete from each institution for each sport and is selected by the players and coaches from their respective team for their positive contributions to sportsmanship.

Denton-Schneider Named First-Team All-Conference
BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin College men's soccer player Ben Denton-Schneider (San Rafael, Calif.) has earned First-Team All-NESCAC honors in conference awards announced on Thursday. He was one of just two sophomores to earn first-team recognition.

Men's Soccer Falls in NESCAC Quarterfinals at Middlebury
MIDDLEBURY, Vermont The top-seeded Middlebury men's soccer team defeated Bowdoin 3-0 in a NESCAC Quarterfinal contest on Sunday, earning the Panthers (12-1-2) the right to host the semifinals and finals next weekend. The Polar Bears' season comes to an end with a record of 6-8-0.

Men's Soccer Falls to Tufts, Drops to Eighth Seed
BRUNSWICK, Maine - Needing a win to qualify for the NESCAC Tournament, the Tufts University men's soccer team got a pair of goals from Dan Schoening in a 3-1 win over Bowdoin on Friday afternoon. The Jumbos clinch the Tufts (8-5-1, 4-5 NESCAC) is the #6 seed in the conference tournament. They will play at #3 Trinity in the first round on Sunday at noon. Bowdoin (6-7, 4-5 NESCAC) got in as the eighth seed and will travel to #1 Middlebury on Sunday for a noontime start.

Bowdoin Drops 2-1 Decision to Babson
BABSON PARK, Mass. Babson senior Tim Winn scored the go-ahead goal just over three minutes into the second half as the Babson College mens soccer team won a hard-fought contest with visiting Bowdoin College, 2-1, in non-conference action at Hartwell-Rogers Field on Sunday afternoon. It was the sixth straight victory for the Beavers, ranked fourth in New England, as they improved to 13-4-1, while the Polar Bears dropped to 6-6-0 with the loss.

Colby Drops Bowdoin For First Time Since 1996
WATERVILLE, Maine - The Colby College men's soccer team defeated Bowdoin Saturday, 3-1, earning their first win over the Polar Bears since 1996 and snapping an 11-game winless skid against their Maine rivals. The Mules, now 7-5-1 overall and 3-4-1 in the league, are 2-0-1 in conference play in the last eight days. Bowdoin falls to 6-5 overall and 4-4 in the league.

Bowdoin Inducts Seventh Class into Athletic Hall of Honor
BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College Athletic Hall of Honor will welcome its seventh class on Homecoming Saturday, October 15. The five distinguished individuals span an astounding eight decades of Polar Bear athletics and includes some of the most recognizable names in the history of the institution. This year's inductees include coach Jack Magee, Bill McWilliams '57, Robinson Moore '77, Chris Jerome '83 and Emily LeVan '95.

Wesleyan Stuns Bowdoin With Late Goal
MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - Wesleyan's Matt Nevin scored with 1:12 remaining in the second half to propel Wesleyan to a 1-0 NESCAC victory over visiting Bowdoin Saturday afternoon. It was the fifth time in the last seven meetings that the Cardinals (1-1) have downed the Polar Bears and avenged a 2-0 loss to Bowdoin (1-1) in Middletown the last time the teams played during the first round of the NESCAC tournament last season.

Bowdoin Opens Season With Win Over Farmington
BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin's Hugh Fleming scored a late first-half goal and Greg Frechette added a second-half tally to give the Polar Bear men's soccer team a season-opening victory against the University of Maine-Farmington on Saturday. Bowdoin (1-0) will return to action Tuesday afternoon at home against Gordon. Farmington dips to 1-1 and will play Wednesday at Bates.
