The spring of 2012 will be the 22nd season for Tom McCabe as the head coach of the Bowdoin men's lacrosse. In 2010, McCabe became the 17th coach in Division III history to reach the 200-win plateau, and he boasts an all-time mark of 215-119, winning well over 60% of his career games.

When NESCAC schools were allowed to compete in the ECAC Tournament, McCabe led the Polar Bears to the semifinals in all but one season and his teams advanced to the finals five times, winning two championships- in 1993 and 2001. Also in 2001, McCabe guided the squad to an appearance in the first-ever NESCAC Championship game. Bowdoin has qualified for the NESCAC Playoffs in each season, and has proved to be one of the top teams in the league and the region.

In 2008, McCabe led the Polar Bears to another appearance in the NESCAC Championship game and the squad's first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance. The Polar Bears also won their first-ever NCAA Tournament game, an 11-5 victory over Mount Ida College.

Prior to arriving at Bowdoin, McCabe was the boy's lacrosse and football coach at Bridgton Academy. Along with his duties with men's lacrosse, McCabe was also a member of the Bowdoin football staff, where he coached the quarterbacks and offensive backfield. McCabe earned his Bachelor's and Master's degree from Springfield College where he was a two-time Honorable Mention All-New England selection for the Springfield football team.
