BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College lacrosse teams are both ranked in the Division III preseason polls released by Lacrosse Magazine on Thursday.
The Polar Bear women are ranked 11th in their ranking while the Polar Bear men stand 19th. Both teams released their 2013 schedules on Friday.
The Bowdoin men's team will look to build on a sensational 2012 campaign with first-year head coach Jason Archbell taking the helm this spring. The Polar Bears finished as the NESCAC runners-up and advanced to the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament before finishing the year with a 14-6 record. The Polar Bears are one of four NESCAC teams in the poll, which includes Connecticut College at #14. Bowdoin will open its season at home against the Camels on March 9 at Ryan Field.
Just one year removed from playing in the NCAA Division III Championship game, the Bowdoin women's team fell victim to the toughest conference in the nation in 2012, finishing the year with a 10-6 record and a first-round exit in the NESCAC Tournament. The NESCAC boasts seven teams in the top-20 of the poll, including six of the top 11 squads. Coach Liz Grote and the Polar Bears will open their year at Connecticut College on March 9.
