BRUNSWICK, Maine – Bowdoin sophomore Max Fenkell (Meadowbrook, Pa.) has been named the New England Small College Men's Ice Hockey Player of the Week.

Fenkell led the Polar Bears to the NESCAC Championship with a pair of impressive performances over the weekend. In the semifinals against Middlebury on Saturday, Fenkell stopped 32 shots, including 16 in the final period, in a 4-2 victory. In the NESCAC Championship game Sunday, he recorded 23 stops, including several sprawling saves in the final period, to preserve a 2-1 victory. For the weekend, he averaged a 1.50 GAA and owned a .948 save percentage.

Bowdoin earned an automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Men's Ice Hockey Tournament and will host MASCAC champion UMass Dartmouth in the first round on Wednesday, March 6 at 7:00 PM in Watson Arena. It will be the third trip in the last four years to the tournament for a Bowdoin team that tied their program mark for single season wins with 22. 

Tickets will go on sale beginning at 8 a.m. on Tuesday morning, March 5, in the Athletic Department Office on the second floor of the Peter Buck Center. Tickets will be $5 for adults, $3 for students and children. Children under 2 and Bowdoin students with ID are free.
