Three Polar Bears Net All-Conference Awards for Men's Hockey
BRUNSWICK, Maine - A trio of Bowdoin men's ice hockey players have been honored in All-New England Small College Athletic Conference awards dished out on Thursday.
Bowdoin placed a pair of players on the All-Conference First Team for the third year in a row as senior co-captains Daniel Weiniger (Warren, N.J.) and Timothy McGarry (Kennett Square, Penn.) were selected by the NESCAC coaches. Junior Ollie Koo (Greenwich, Conn.) was named as a Second Team All-Conference selection.
Weiniger has earned First Team honors twice, as well as earning Rookie of the Year after the 2009-10 season. The forward had a team-leading 16 goals to go along with 10 assists heading into the semifinals. He has three power play and three game-winning goals to his credit. Weiniger's 22 career power play goals ranks him fifth amongst school leaders. The Polar Bear offense leads the league with 110 goals scored, averaging 4.40 per game.
McGarry has helped the Polar Bears on the other end of the ice, ranking fourth among NESCAC defensemen with 17 points off of five goals and 12 assists. Three of his five goals have come on the power play. The senior blue-liner has helped Bowdoin to a 2.60 goals-against-average as a team this winter and will play in his 100th career game for the Polar Bears on Saturday.
Junior forward Ollie Koo earned Second Team All-Conference honors. Koo has a team leading 29 points off of 14 goals and 15 assists. He ranks second in both goals and assists for Bowdoin this season, and has supplied six power play goals to tie for the team lead.
