BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin senior co-captain Daniel Weiniger (Warren, N.J.) has been named the New England Small College Men's Ice Hockey Player of the Week.

Weiniger recorded four goals and an assist last weekend for Bowdoin. The forward was at his best on Saturday, when he netted a hat trick with a goal in each period of his team's 5-2 win over Hamilton. Weiniger also collected a goal and an assist in a 6-3 loss to Amherst on Friday. It is the second time this season that he has earned NESCAC Player of the Week recognition.

The senior forward increased his season goal total to 14, moving him into the team lead and ranking second in the NESCAC. His 24 points stand fourth among conference players.

One of the finest scorers in school history, Weiniger became the 34th member of Bowdoin's 100-point club earlier this season and currently is tied for 22nd all-time in school history with 111 career points on 54 goals and 57 assists.

Currently at #3 in the latest USCHO.com Division III poll, Bowdoin owns a 17-2-1 record this season. The Polar Bears will return to action this Friday and Saturday in Connecticut, with road games at Wesleyan and Trinity.
