Downey Named NESCAC Men's Hockey Player of the Week
BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin sophomore forward Colin Downey (East Sandwich, Mass.) has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Player of the Week.
Downey recorded six points, including the game-winning goal in both of the Polar Bears' road victories this past weekend. After netting a goal and three assists in Friday's 9-2 win at Tufts, Downey collected a goal and an assist in Saturday's 6-4 victory at Connecticut College, scoring the decisive goal in the third period.
The impressive weekend performance vaulted the two-way forward to fourth in the league with 29 points. He has netted eight goals to go with 21 assists this winter. He shared this week's Player of the Week honor with Amherst goaltender Jonathan La Rose.
The two victories help Bowdoin clinch the second seed for the upcoming NESCAC Tournament. The Polar Bears will host Trinity in a NESCAC Quarterfinal game on Saturday, February 25 at 4:00 p.m. Ticket information is available here.
