BRUNSWICK, Maine – Senior Rob Donahoe and junior John Louie fired identical rounds of 70 to sit tied atop the leaderboard and lead Middlebury to first place in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Golf Championship Tournament at Brunswick Golf Club today.
The Panthers finished with a team score of 292, which was eight strokes better than Trinity. Defending NESCAC Champion Williams is in third following a team score of 307 and host Bowdoin in fourth after posting a round of 311. The teams will tee off beginning Sunday at 10:50 a.m. for the final round. The host Polar Bears will be looking to advance to their first-ever spring NESCAC Championship Tournament.
Colby first-year Geoffrey Sullivan is in third place at 73, while Bowdoin's Thomas Lilly, Trinity sophomore Jeff Durkin and Williams senior Matt McCarron are tied for fourth at 74.
Bates, Hamilton and Wesleyan will get the day started at 9:30 a.m. followed by Amherst, Tufts and Colby at 10:10 a.m.
The team winner following tomorrow's results will host the NESCAC Golf Championship on April 26-27. The top four teams will qualify for the championship.
