AMHERST, Mass. - The Bowdoin men's golf team posted a strong sixth-place showing at the New England Small College Athletic Conference Men's Golf Qualifier this weekend at Hickory Ridge Golf Club in Massachusetts.
Despite their good showing, the Polar Bears did not qualify as one of the four squads that will compete at the NESCAC Championship next spring. Bowdoin finished with a two-day total of 640, as Trinity claimed the top spot with a 592. The Polar Bears were 27 cumulative strokes behind fourth-place Middlebury for the last qualifying position.
Matt Mathias was the low scorer for Bowdoin, carding a two-day score of 156 (82-74) to finish in a tie for 19th place. Kevin Zmozynski was in 27th (81-80-161), followed by Bobby Kaminski in 30th (83-79-162) and Johnny Bohorquez in 37th (82-83-165). Thomas Lilly rounded out the Bowdoin players with a 43rd place showing (79-90-169).
Bowdoin will round out its season next weekend with the CBB Championship at Martindale Country Club in Auburn.
