Men's and Women's Squash Teams Announce 2013-14 Schedules

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College men's and women's squash teams have announced their 2013-14 regular season schedules. Both teams will open the season on November 23 as they travel to MIT to faceoff against Tufts.

Men’s Squash – 2013-14 Schedule
The Polar Bears ended last season at 13-11, and earned the prestigious Sloane Sportsmanship Award at Team Nationals. Bowdoin will host six home contests, as well as the inaugural Division III Individual Championships, this year. The Polar Bears will host their first home contest against perennial national power Trinity (Nov. 24), followed by Bates on Dec. 6. Bowdoin will return home for contests against Conn. College (Jan. 12), Williams (Jan. 12), Wesleyan (Jan. 14), and Brown (Jan. 18). The team will travel to play Tufts and MIT (Nov. 23), Middlebury (Dec. 7), St. Lawrence (Dec. 8), and Colby (Jan. 10). Bowdoin will play four matches, hosted by Yale, against Drexel (Jan. 24), George Washington (Jan. 25), Hobart (Jan. 25), and Hamilton (Jan. 26). Hamilton hosts the NESCAC Championship Tournament (Jan. 31-Feb.2). The Polar Bears return home to host the D-III Individuals from February 7-9, before heading to the CSA Team Championships (Feb. 14-16).

Women's Squash2013-14 Schedule
The women’s squash team ended last year with an 11-13 mark, but ended with a flourish as the squad collected the Walker Cup Division at Team Nationals. Bowdoin will open the season at the MIT Round Robin against Tufts and Wellesley (Nov. 23). The Polar Bears then return home for a pair of home matches against Trinity (Nov. 24) and Bates (Dec. 6), before hitting the road for away contests at Middlebury against the Panthers (Dec. 7) and St. Lawrence (Dec. 8). Bowdoin plays at Colby (Jan. 10) before returning home for four-straight matches, as they host Conn. College (Jan. 12), Williams (Jan. 12), Wesleyan (Jan. 14), and Brown (Jan. 18.) The women’s team travels to Yale for five matches against Drexel (Jan. 24), George Washington (Jan. 25), Franklin & Marshal (Jan. 25), Mount Holyoke (Jan. 26), Hamilton (Jan. 26). Hamilton hosts the NESCAC Championship Tournament (Jan. 31-Feb.2). The Polar Bears return home to host the D-III Individuals from February 7-9, before heading to the CSA Team Championships (Feb. 14-16).

Coach Tomas Fortson enters his 14th year as head coach of the Polar Bears. The Bowdoin women's team will be captained by Rachel Barnes, Victoria Lee and Michaela Martin. Stephen Danyluk, and Andrew Ward will captain the men's squad.
