Fifth Annual Phil Soule 5K Scheduled For Sunday, October 3

BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin College will host the fifth annual Phil Soule 5K "Phlail" on Homecoming Sunday, October 3. An event that has quickly become a Homecoming Weekend favorite, the 5K walk/race is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. at Whittier Field with registration beginning at 9:30. Registration is $15 and is free for all Bowdoin students.

A beloved figure at the institution, Phil Soule coached football at Bowdoin College for 39 years. He was an assistant coach in lacrosse, squash, and track in addition to football, and also served stints as the head coach for the baseball and wrestling teams. One of the founders of the Maine Rowdies running club, Phil was a competitive runner. Marathons, ultra-marathons, and triathlons were his favorite events. Phil’s philosophy was to live each day to its fullest. The intent of the 5K “Phlail” is to live up to that belief.

Please contact Nordic Ski coach Nathan Alsobrook for a registration form at nalsobro@bowdoin.edu. The first 150 registrants will receive a t-shirt. Bagels and fruit will be provided at the finish for all participants. All proceeds will benefit the Bowdoin College Nordic Ski team.
