BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College field hockey team has announced its 2013 match schedule.
After finishing as the NESCAC runners-up and earning their eighth NCAA Tournament appearance in the last nine years, the Polar Bears (16-4 in 2012) will begin pursuit of their fourth Division III title when they host Wesleyan in their season-opener on September 7 at Ryan Field.
Bowdoin will play eight of its 14 games at home this fall, where they have won 32 consecutive matches dating back to the fall of 2009. In addition to the opener against Wesleyan, the home slate will also include battles with NESCAC rivals Middlebury (September 21), Hamilton (October 12), Williams (October 13) and Colby (October 26) as well as non-conference foes Southern Maine (September 17), Maine-Farmington (October 3) and Husson (October 5). The Polar Bears will play defending national champion Tufts, who knocked Bowdoin out of the NCAA Tournament last season, in the regular season finale scheduled for October 30 in Medford, Massachusetts.
Head coach Nicky Pearson will be entering her 18th year at the helm, boasting a record of 248-51 in her time at Bowdoin. The Polar Bears will be captained by seniors Olivia King and Katie Riley.
Game times are subject to change and plans for live coverage of home matches will be released later this summer.
Additional fall sports schedules will be announced in the coming weeks.
