WATERVILLE, Maine - Cathleen Smith had a hand in all three goals as the Bowdoin College field hockey team defeated Colby 3-0 on Saturday.
The sixth-ranked Polar Bears improved to 8-1 overall and 4-1 in the conference, while the Mules fall to 4-5 overall and 0-5 in the league.
Katie Riley, who had a goal and an assist, scored the game-winning goal at 7:31 of the opening half. Smith's centering pass was blasted into the back of the cage by Riley. The duo reversed roles at 15:25. This time Riley had the cross and Smith scored her first goal of the game from in front on a hard blast.
