Bowdoin Field Hockey Team Honored For Classroom Excellence
BRUNSWICK, Maine - The national champion Bowdoin College field hockey team has proven that its excellence is not contained to the playing field. In Academic Team Honors announced by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association this month, the Polar Bears were recognized as having the third-highest team GPA in all of Division III last fall.

Nicky Pearson Named Division III Coach of the Year
BALTIMORE, Md. - Bowdoin College field hockey head coach Nicky Pearson was recognized as 2010 Dita / NFHCA Division III Coach of the Year during the NFHCA Coaches Recognition Luncheon held on Friday, January 7th. It is the third time that Pearson has been honored as the National Coach of the Year (2007, 2008).

Three Polar Bears Earn NFHCA All-American Honors
BRUNSWICK, Maine - Three members of the national champion Bowdoin College field hockey team have been named All-Americans by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association. Senior co-captain Ingrid Oelschlager (Roanoke, Va.) led the way for the Polar Bears, earning First Team All-American recognition while Katie Herter (Topsfield, Mass.) and Ella Curren (Roxbury, Conn.) also collected honors.

Champions Again! Field Hockey Wins Third NCAA Title in Strokes
BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College field hockey team won a penalty-stroke shootout to claim their third NCAA Division III Championship, 2-1, over Messiah College on Sunday afternoon. McKenna Teague notched the game-winner as the Polar Bears claimed the shootout by a 3-1 margin.

Bowdoin Downs Skidmore, Returns to NCAA Championship Game
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Cathleen Smith had a hand in all five goals as the Bowdoin College field hockey team advanced to the NCAA title game with a 5-0 win over Skidmore in the national semifinals on Saturday afternoon at Christopher Newport University. The Polar Bears (19-1) will face Messiah, who defeated Ursinus in the other semifinal, at 1:00 p.m. Sunday for the championship.

Oelschlager Leads All-Region Honors For Field Hockey Team
BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin College senior Ingrid Oelschlager (Roanoke, Va.) has been named the New England West Region Player of the Year in honors announced by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association on Friday. Oelschlager co-captained the Polar Bears to an 18-1 record and headlines a group of six Polar Bears who netted All-Region recognition.

Bowdoin Returns to Final Four, Aims For Third National Crown
BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College field hockey team will make their fifth appearance in the NCAA Semifinals this weekend, with eyes on winning their third national championship in the last four seasons. The 2007 and '08 national champs will face Skidmore College at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at Christopher Newport (Va.) University, following the 11:00 match between Messiah and Ursinus. The winners will play on Sunday in the national championship game at 1:00 p.m.

Oelschlager's OT Game-Winner Sends Bowdoin to NCAA Semifinals
BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin senior co-captain Ingrid Oelschlager scored the game-winning goal with 3:21 remaining in the first overtime to lift the Polar Bear field hockey team to their fifth 'Final Four' appearance, 4-3 over Lebanon Valley on Sunday. The Polar Bears improve to 18-1 this season and will face Skidmore College in the NCAA Semifinals at Christopher Newport University next Saturday at 2:00 p.m.

BRUNSWICK, Maine –Cathleen Smith and Kassey Matoin scored two goals apiece to lead the Bowdoin College field hockey team to a 6-0 win over Babson in an NCAA Second Round contest at Ryan Field on Saturday afternoon. The Polar Bears (17-1) advance to tomorrow’s regional final against Lebanon Valley (19-2) for a trip to the National Semifinals. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.

Polar Bears Prepare to Host NCAA Regional This Weekend
BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College field hockey team will host a second and third-round regional this Saturday and Sunday at Ryan Field. On Saturday, the Polar Bears will face Babson College at 11:00 a.m. while Lebanon Valley and Cortland State are scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. start. BRUNSWICK, Maine - A league-high five members of the Bowdoin College field hockey team have been recognized in postseason awards handed out by the New England Small College Athletic Conference on Wednesday. Two Polar Bears, senior Ingrid Oelschlager and junior Ella Curren have been named First Team selections while head coach Nicky Pearson set a conference record with her seventh Coach of the Year honor.

Bowdoin To Host NCAA Field Hockey Regional This Weekend
BRUNSWICK, Maine - The NESCAC Champion Bowdoin College field hockey team has earned a first-round bye and will host an NCAA Regional this Saturday and Sunday at Ryan Field. The Polar Bears (16-1) will face the winner of a Wednesday first-round match between Babson and Husson on Saturday. The other teams in the regional will be Lebanon Valley and the winner of a Wednesday match between Cortland and UMass-Dartmouth.

MEDFORD, Mass. - Senior co-captain Ingrid Oelschlager scored twice as the Bowdoin College field hockey team reclaimed the NESCAC title after a one-year absence in an impressive 3-0 win over Tufts on Sunday. The Polar Bears (16-1), winners of six NESCAC Championships, have won four of the last five conference titles and will earn the league's automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament when pairings are announced on Monday.

MEDFORD, Mass. - Bowdoin College junior Katie Herter scored 5:33 into the overtime period to lift the Polar Bears to a 3-2 victory against Amherst College in the semifinal round of the NESCAC Field Hockey Championship on Saturday afternoon at Tufts University’s Bello Field. Bowdoin (15-1), the #2 seed in the tournament, advances to play #1 seed and host Tufts in the conference final on Sunday at noon.

MEDFORD, Mass. - In the regular-season finale with the top seed in NESCAC on the line, Tufts senior Tamara Brown scored her 20th goal of the season with 15 minutes remaining in the first half and it stood up for a 1-0 Jumbo victory against Bowdoin College in field hockey action on Friday at Bello Field. The Polar Bears will host Conn. College in a Quarterfinal game on Sunday.

BANGOR, Maine – The fifth-ranked Bowdoin College field hockey team remained perfect with a 4-0 victory over Husson University under the lights at Husson’s Winkin Complex on Wednesday evening. Bowdoin improves to 12-0 this season while the Eagles fall to 7-5. Katie Herter scored twice and Kayla Lessard made four saves in the win.

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College field hockey team dominated from start-to-finish, but needed a late score from Katie Herter to seal a 1-0 win at Williams on Saturday. The sixth-ranked Polar Bears remained one of three unbeaten teams in Division III field hockey in improving to 11-0 (7-0 NESCAC) this fall. Williams drops to 2-8 (1-6 NESCAC). Bowdoin has won nine straight over Williams and posted three consecutive shutouts against the Ephs.

WATERVILLE, Maine - Elizabeth Clegg and Katie Herter both had two goals in lifting sixth-ranked Bowdoin College to a 5-1 win over Colby College in NESCAC field hockey Wednesday night at Bill Alfond Field. The Polar Bears earned their 10th win of the season and reach double-digits for the 19th-straight season; the longest such streak in Division III field hockey.

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The sixth-ranked Bowdoin College field hockey team scored five goals in the first 27:14 en route to a 7-0 shutout win over Wheaton (Mass.) College on Sunday afternoon at Ryan Field. The Polar Bears remained unbeaten this year at 9-0 while the Lyons suffer their second-straight loss and drop to 10-4 this season. Kassey Matoin scored twice in the win for Bowdoin.

BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin head coach Nicky Pearson won her 200th game as head coach of the Polar Bear field hockey team, defeating the University of Maine-Farmington 9-0 on Wednesday night. The Polar Bears, ranked sixth in the latest Division III National Poll, improve to 7-0 this season and have not allowed a goal since September 18. The Beavers fall to 8-2 this season with the loss.

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College field hockey team scored three times in a span of 11:38 to put away visiting Connecticut College, 3-0, at Ryan Field on Saturday. The unbeaten and sixth-ranked Polar Bears improve to 6-0 (4-0 NESCAC) while the Camels fall to 5-2 (2-2 NESCAC) with the loss. Bowdoin has not permitted a goal in their last 238:18 of play, dating back to September 18.

Polar Bears Waste Little Time in Dispatching Bobcats
LEWISTON, Maine - It took all of 16 seconds for the Bowdoin College field hockey team to find the back of the net Saturday against Bates and the Polar Bears never looked back, cruising to an 8-1 win over the Bobcats. The win is the 26th straight for Bowdoin over Bates dating back to 1985 and the seven goals are the largest margin of victory for the Polar Bears in the 37-year history of the rivalry.

BRUNSWICK, Maine - One of the most successful teams in Division III over the last decade, the Bowdoin College field hockey team enters the 2010 campaign with hopes of returning to the NCAA Tournament after a one-year absence. The Polar Bears, ranked 11th in the NFHCA Preseason Poll, return seven of their top eight scorers from a year ago. Bowdoin will host Amherst in their season-opener on September 11.
