Ryan Mattison Joins Football Coaching Staff

BRUNSWICK, Maine - Ryan Mattison, a 2003 graduate of Boston College and a member of the Eagles' coaching staff for the last three seasons, has been named as an Assistant Football Coach at Bowdoin. Mattison will assume coaching duties for the defensive secondary, specifically the safeties, for the Polar Bears in 2010.

A veteran of the collegiate coaching ranks in New England, Mattison was a walk-on for the Boston College football team during his time at Chestnut Hill. A two-time Scout Team Player of the Year, he earned a full athletic scholarship and two varsity letters by the time he left.

His first coaching job came at Assumption College, where he spent the 2004 season as secondary coach and academic liason. From there, he was hired as a secondary coach at Holy Cross and spent two seasons in Worcester before returning to Boston College.

At B.C., Mattison was hired as a graduate assistant for recruiting and, after a year, was promoted to a graduate assistant for the offense, where he assisted with coaching the offensive line and tight ends.

Mattison has a Marketing degree and a master's in Administrative Studies from Boston College.
