Noone, Duggan Lead Football All-Conference Honors
BRUNSWICK, Maine - Four members of the Bowdoin College football
team have earned All-New England Small College Athletic Conference
recognition in selections announced on Wednesday afternoon. Senior
defensive lineman Laurence Duggan (Weston, Mass.) and sophomore
wide receiver Pat Noone (North Attleboro, Mass.) were tabbed as
First-Team choices while senior quarterback Oliver Kell (Westford,
Mass.) and senior linebacker Tyler Tennant (Swampscott, Mass.)
collected Second-Team honors.
Noone re-wrote the Bowdoin record books this season at wideout,
shattering the single-season marks for receptions (76), yards (997)
and touchdown catches (7). He established a new NESCAC record for
single-season receptions (breaking the mark of 73 set by Wesleyan's
Matt Perceval in 1999) and his receiving yards are the second-most
by a player in conference history. He finished with seven touchdown
receptions to set a new school record and his week one performance
against Middlebury (12 catches) also set a new single-game
mark.
Duggan was outstanding on the defensive line for the Polar Bears
this fall and finished with nine sacks to lead the conference. His
sack total is tied for third-most in a single-season by a Bowdoin
player and accounted for a total loss of 52 yards. He also made 50
stops (35 solo), 10.5 tackles for a loss of 57 yards and a fumble
recovery.
Oliver Kell closes out his Bowdoin career as the most accomplished
quarterback in school history. Among several school records, he
finishes his career with the most completions (510), passing yards
(5,872), total offensive yards (6,700), touchdown passes (36) and
best completion percentage (58.0). This year, he set new
single-season marks for completions (191), passing yards (2,255)
passing touchdowns (16) and total offense (2,448) to garner a
second-team nod.
Linebacker Tyler Tennant also concludes a fine career, leading
Bowdoin and finishing 14th in the league with 61 total tackles this
season. He made 40 solo stops, including four for a loss, had three
pass break-ups and intercepted two passes - both key picks in the
season finale against Colby. He concludes his career with 133 solo
tackles and eight interceptions.
Bowdoin finished the season with a record of 3-5, beating Colby
for the fourth consecutive season, and shared the CBB
(Colby-Bates-Bowdoin) football crown in a three-way tie for the
first time since 1995.
