Men's Cross-Country Fifth at Regionals, Women Take Ninth CUMBERLAND, Maine - The Bowdoin College men's cross-country team finished fifth and the women ninth at the New England Division III Championship Saturday afternoon at Twin Brook Recreation Center. Thompson Ogilvie topped the Bowdoin performers on the rainy day in Maine, placing sixth individually in the race followed by Colman Hatton in 10th overall. Lindsay Hodge led the women's team with a 42nd place finish. November 2, 2009 Joan Benoit Samuelson '79 Sets NYC Marathon Record NEW YORK, N.Y. - Joan Benoit Samuelson '79 has done it again. The 1984 Olympic gold medalist and two-time Boston Marathon winner set a record Sunday, November 1, 2009, when she ran the New York City Marathon in 2 hours, 49 minutes and 9 seconds, breaking the 50-plus division record of 2:53:53 set by S. Rae Baymiller in 1993. The Polar Bear women finished in second place overall. Colman Hatton became the first Bowdoin runner to win the individual state title since 2001. Sam Epstein led the Polar Bear men's team with a third-place finish while the women's team was paced by a fourth-place showing from Yasmine White. September 26, 2009 Cross-Country Teams Run Well at Conn. College WATERFORD, Conn. - The Bowdoin College cross-country teams competed well at the Connecticut College Invitational on Saturday. The men's team finished in second place overall while the women earned a third-place showing. Thompson Ogilvie was the top individual finisher for either team, placing third in the men's 8K race. September 19, 2009 Men's Cross-Country Edges Bates, Women Fall to Bobcats NEW GLOUCESTER, Maine - The Bowdoin College cross-country teams split with Bates in a season-opening race at Pineland Farms on Saturday. The men's team defeated Bates edged Bates 101-111 while the women fell to the Bobcats 90-127. The meet scored the top 10 finishers for each team to determined the final team score. |
