Aaron Rosen Named NESCAC Baseball Player of the Week
BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin sophomore shortstop Aaron Rosen (Morganville, N.J.) has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Player of the Week.
Rosen was scalding hot this week for the Polar Bears, as the team went 4-0 and extended their win streak to 11 games, matching the program record set in 2006. He batted .786 over the four victories, collecting 11 hits in 14 at-bats, scoring eight runs, slugging 1.071 and reaching base at a .833 clip.
Rosen's best performance of the week came on Saturday in the middle game of a three-game sweep of Williams when he went 4-4 with two runs scored and a triple to spark a 4-1 Polar Bear win.
Thanks to his stellar week, Rosen raised his batting average to a team-best .346. He is tied for the team lead with 18 runs scored and stands among the team leaders in hits (27) and on-base-percentage (.446) this spring. He is the first Bowdoin position player to earn the NESCAC's weekly honor since Matt Ruane '11 won the award in April of 2011.
Bowdoin (20-9) will return to action on Wednesday afternoon when they host Brandeis University. First pitch is scheduled for 4:15 p.m. at Pickard Field.
