Oliver Van Zant Named NESCAC Pitcher of the Week

BRUNSWICK, Maine – Bowdoin senior Oliver Van Zant (Westport, Conn.) has been named the NESCAC Pitcher of the Week.

Van Zant threw a no-hitter in the Polar Bears' 7-0 win over visiting Colby on Saturday. The no-hitter was only the fifth thrown in program history. Van Zant struck out 11 batters to earn the victory and become only the second Bowdoin pitcher (and first since 1911) to throw a nine-inning no-hitter.

Leading the conference in both innings pitched and strikeouts, Van Zant sits third in the league with a 1.29 ERA. During his career at Bowdoin he has collected 15 wins, currently sitting at fourth all-time in school history. Van Zant holds the school record for career strikeouts with a tally of 256.

The Polar Bears are currently riding a seven game win streak. They face Husson for a midweek night game on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
