Bowdoin Rowing Center
Smith Boathouse
The Bowdoin Rowing boathouse, which is named Smith House, sits
on the New Meadows River, 4.5 miles down Bath Road from the Bowdoin
College campus. The river is tidal, inhabited by lots of wildlife,
and well protected for 1.5 miles downstream until it opens in
stages to the North Atlantic starting at about 8 miles from the
boathouse.
Smith House, which was dedicated on October 5, 2002, is
complimented by a 110' long by 12' wide dock, which allows the
launch or retrieve of five fours simultaneously.
To compliment their training on the water, athletes train indoors
on Concept 2 ergometers in the club's training facility adjacent to
the student union on campus.
