Tennis Teams Learn Seeding For NESCAC Championship

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College men's and women's tennis teams have learned their seedings for the 2018 NESCAC Tennis Championships scheduled for this weekend at Amherst College.

Women's Championship - Bracket/Championship Info
The Polar Bears (9-11, 4-4 NESCAC) will face third-seeded Wesleyan (11-2, 7-2 NESCAC) in the quarterfinals of the tournament for the second straight season, this time at 9:00 a.m. Friday at Amherst. The Polar Bears have qualified for every NESCAC Championship, advancing to the semifinals on eight occasions. Currently the 14th-ranked team in Division III, Bowdoin boasts a 2-1 record against Wesleyan in championship play and last met in the 2017 quarterfinals with the Polar Bears posting a 5-3 victory. The winner will advance to face Middlebury in the semifinals on Saturday at 9:00 a.m.

Men's Championship - Bracket/Championship Info
The defending NESCAC Champions, Bowdoin (17-1) earned a first-round bye and will face the winner of the Wesleyan/Amherst quarterfinal at 1:00 p.m. Saturday in the semifinals. The Polar Bears return every player from the squad that won the NESCAC title in 2017 and have been ranked among the top four teams in the ITA Division III poll all season. Currently the third-ranked team in Division III, the Polar Bears have advanced to the NESCAC championship match four times and won the title in 2017 and 2008. The Polar Bears are 1-3 against Amherst in NESCAC Championship competition, and 1-0 against Wesleyan after a 5-0 win in a NESCAC Semifinal match last year.
