Squash Teams Learn Pairings for NESCAC Championship

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College men's and women's squash teams have learned their pairings for the upcoming NESCAC Championship hosted by Amherst this weekend.

Both teams will open play on Friday evening against Hamilton with the women's match scheduled for 4:30 p.m. and the men slated for a 6:30 p.m. start.

Women's Preview - Women's Championship Schedule
Bowdoin is the seventh seed for the fifth time in championship history. The Polar Bears enter the tournament with a 4-8 record, but earned a 7-2 victory over Hamilton on January 13 when the two teams met in Brunswick. A victory over the Continentals would put Bowdoin into the quarterfinals for the seventh consecutive season. Hamilton (3-10) is the No. 10 seed for the first time in program history. The Continentals own a 3-2 record over the Polar Bears in NESCAC Championship play. Friday will be the first meeting between the two schools since the 2015 quarterfinal consolation round, where Hamilton recorded a 6-3 win. The winner of Friday's quarterfinal game will play second-seeded Williams on Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m.

Men's Preview - Men's Championship Schedule
Bowdoin (3-10) and Hamilton (4-9) will square off in the NESCAC Championship for the second consecutive season. The Polar Bears own a 3-0 advantage over the Continentals in tournament play. Last year, the Bowdoin registered a 5-4 win to move on to the quarterfinals for the 10th straight time. Bowdoin enters the NESCAC Championship as the seventh seed for the second year in a row. After starting the season 0-5, the Polar Bears earned wins over Wesleyan (5-4), Hamilton (8-1) and Connecticut College (9-0). The Polar Bears have reached the quarterfinals every year, but have not advanced to the semifinals since 2010. Hamilton is the No. 10 seed for the second consecutive season. The Continentals went 2-2 in their last four matches, and are seeking their first quarterfinal appearance since 2013. The winner of the quarterfinal match-up will advance to play second-seeded Bates on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
